MAINTENANCE ISN’T JUST ABOUT KEEPING THE MACHINES RUNNING – IT’S ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER, STAYING SAFE, AND BEING TRULY ENGAGED

Meet Boy Huijberts – Leading with Collaboration and Care in Wijchen

At our Wijchen location, Boy Huijberts is more than just our Maintenance Manager – he’s the driving force behind a team that thrives on collaboration, safety, and continuous learning. One of the projects he’s most proud of is building a new culture of teamwork within his department. With daily check-ins, open communication, and a strong focus on safety and quality, the way the team works together has transformed.

"The biggest challenge? Finding – and keeping – the right people,” says Boy. That’s why he invests heavily in training, knowledge sharing, and “train-the-trainer” programs. Knowledge doesn’t stay with one person; it grows across the team. “People want to progress and keep learning. That’s incredibly motivating – and it helps us retain our people.”

Safety is always a top priority. From improved connections to daily discussions on safety issues, Boy ensures that safety is more than a rule – it’s part of everyday practice.

What Boy loves most about his role is the commitment and drive of his team. He works side by side with his technicians, thinks proactively, and believes in leadership based on equality: “I don’t see myself as a manager, but as part of the team. Together, we tackle every challenge.”

Looking ahead, Boy is focused on preventive maintenance and improving OEE. “We have the right people, we’re all aligned, and there are plenty of exciting projects ahead for us to build together.”

At Wijchen, it’s this combination of team spirit, development, and hands-on leadership that makes working in Maintenance more than a job – it’s a place to grow, learn, and make an impact.
