About the Role:

As a Continuous Improvement Specialist, you are the face of continuous improvement within your plant. You spend a significant amount of time on the shop floor and stay closely connected to employees, processes and machines. You observe what is happening, listen to the challenges and opportunities, and work together with employees and teams to identify the best improvement opportunities.

You combine strong analytical skills with a hands-on approach. You map out processes and challenges, translate analyses into concrete improvement proposals, and then take the lead in implementing them together with the employees and teams involved. You are only satisfied when an improvement has not only been designed and implemented, but also delivers tangible results and is sustainably embedded in the organization.

Throughout this process, you never lose sight of the balance between safety, quality, people and performance. Working more efficiently should never come at the expense of quality, compliance or employee engagement.

Your responsibilities as a CI Specialist?

  • You are responsible for identifying, initiating, developing and implementing improvement projects in the areas of Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement.
  • You are visible and active on the shop floor: you observe processes, engage with employees and identify improvement opportunities and bottlenecks based on practical experience.
  • You conduct thorough analyses to establish clear problem definitions and well-founded improvement proposals. You then translate these into concrete action plans with clear objectives, responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Together with the Plant Manager and the teams involved, you take the lead in implementing improvements and ensure that actions are actually carried out, completed and sustainably embedded.
  • You work closely with employees on the production floor and know how to actively involve them in improvement initiatives. You build trust, coach employees and create support for change.
  • You have a strong technical affinity and understand how production processes, machines and operational activities come together. You feel comfortable in a technical production environment and translate technical and operational insights into practical improvements.
  • You take into account the impact of changes on employees and the organization. You involve relevant stakeholders, including the Works Council, in a timely manner when changes affect work procedures, responsibilities or ways of working.
  • You support the Plant Manager and Plant Team with analyses, dashboards and insights, and report on progress using clear KPIs.
  • You play a key role in further developing a continuous improvement culture within the plant. You coach, guide and train Yellow and Green Belts in improvement techniques and tools, and help employees take ownership of improvements themselves.

What do you bring to the table?

You are a technically skilled and highly hands-on Continuous Improvement professional who gets energy from improving processes as well as from working with people. You are not someone who develops improvements solely based on analyses or dashboards: you want to see what is happening on the shop floor, understand the reality of day-to-day operations and know how to engage employees in change.

You combine analytical and process-oriented thinking with strong people and coaching skills. You can easily switch between the production floor and management and are a credible sparring partner in both environments.

  • You have 3–5 years of experience with Lean, Operational Excellence or comparable improvement methodologies. You hold at least a Green Belt certification and have demonstrable experience in managing change and coaching and engaging employees.
  • You are strong in analysis, but above all in execution and implementation: you turn plans into concrete actions and ensure they are successfully delivered.
  • You feel comfortable on the shop floor and are willing to spend a significant part of your time there.
  • You have a strong technical affinity and understand the dynamics of a production environment.
  • You have strong influencing skills and can communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • You are stakeholder-oriented and know how to create support for change, even when changes have an impact on existing ways of working or responsibilities.
  • You are results-driven, pragmatic and persistent, and you do not let go of an improvement initiative until it has actually been implemented and sustainably embedded.
  • You have excellent French skills, in addition to Dutch and English.
