What will you do as a Technical Buyer?

In this role, you are responsible for the strategic and operational management of all technical purchases (MRO, Capex, Opex, HSE, etc.). You also ensure service delivery by accurately translating business needs into strong procurement solutions.

  • You select, qualify, and evaluate suppliers, explore alternative partners, and conduct financial and market analyses.
  • You define category strategies and support investment projects with market research, supplier proposals, and price comparisons.
  • You reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) through standardization, supplier rationalization, spend control, and volume bundling across different sites. You initiate local and regional sourcing initiatives and contribute to long-term programs for MRO and related capital services.
  • You implement instructions, policies, procedures, and strategies related to procurement and contract management. Additionally, you develop and monitor KPIs regarding service contracts, delivery reliability, and complaint handling.
  • You act as the central point of contact and system expert for the EAM platform: you ensure accurate and standardized master data (spare parts, suppliers, materials), support maintenance teams in the use of EAM, guide key users, create manuals, and safeguard system integration with the ERP platform.
  • You analyze data to drive improvements in inventory management, availability, and maintenance efficiency, and you promote the development of group-wide technical standards, catalogues, and uniform data quality across all sites.
  • You work closely with engineering, maintenance, HSE, QA, finance, IT, supply chain, and project teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • You support local management in preparing annual budgets and actively seek synergies and collaboration opportunities between sites.
  • In this role, you report to the Head of Procurement.

What do you bring to the table?

  • You hold a higher education degree (e.g., a Master’s in Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification).
  • You have a minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Technical Buyer with knowledge of maintenance support and/or use of an EAM system.
  • You possess strong knowledge of mechanics and electronics, enabling you to understand and assess technical specifications.
  • As a communicator, you make a real difference with strong communication skills, both internally and with external stakeholders.
  • You are not afraid to tackle complex files and can remain calm in stressful situations.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English.
