The goal:

The Head of Sales will be responsible for leading the multinational (Benelux & Export) sales team and driving the company’s sales strategy to meet and exceed revenue targets. This role will involve overseeing all aspects of the sales department, including strategy development, team management, performance tracking, pipeline management, tender steering, and client relationship building. The Head of Sales will collaborate closely with other departments to align sales efforts with overall business objectives and growth goals.

What are your responsibilities as Head of Sales?

  1. Sales Strategy Development & Execution:
  • Develop and implement the company’s sales strategy to achieve revenue and growth objectives.
  • Align sales initiatives with overall business goals, ensuring both short-term and long-term success.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities to expand the customer base and penetrate new markets.
     
  1. Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the sales team of ~10 FTE with cross functional alignment across a broader sales organization of an additional ~20FTE, fostering a high-performance, results-driven culture.
  • Set clear individual and team performance targets and ensure goals are met.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and development to team members to ensure they have the skills and resources needed to succeed.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
     
  1. Sales Operations & Process Optimization:
  • Oversee the sales pipeline and ensure efficient management of leads, prospects, and deals through the sales cycle.
  • Implement effective sales processes and tools to increase team productivity, customer engagement, and conversion rates.
  • Utilize CRM systems and other sales tools to track and analyze performance data and identify areas for improvement.
     
  1. Customer Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Collaborate with category management, product management, marketing and customer success teams to create tailored solutions for clients, address concerns, and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Act as the company’s representative at key client meetings.
     
  1. Sales Forecasting & Reporting:
  • Create and manage accurate sales forecasts to meet financial targets and business objectives.
  • Track sales metrics, performance KPIs, and report progress to the executive team.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for improvements based on data-driven analysis.
     
  1. Collaboration with Other Departments:
  • Work closely with the category, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment between sales efforts and product offerings.
  • Participate in product development and market strategy discussions to ensure sales strategies are in sync with customer needs and market demands.
     
  1. Budget Management:
  • Manage and allocate the sales department’s budget and updated forecasts, ensuring resources are being used effectively to drive performance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize the department’s operational efficiency.

What do you bring to the table?

  • You obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field. Advanced sales training is a plus.
  • You have a minimum of  10-15 years of experience in sales leadership, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and leading high-performing sales teams.
  • You have experience in B2B and FMCG sales experience in NL/BE.
  • You obtain over a strong understanding of sales principles, forecasting, CRM systems, and sales strategies.
  • Experience in managing and scaling a sales department in a fast-paced environment.
  • You possess over strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • You have excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • You have an analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • You have the ability to build and nurture relationships with senior-level executives, cross-functional teams and clients.
  • You are an exceptional problem-solver and possess conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
